This isn’t a “coming soon” story anymore. It’s happening now.
- Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport opens 26 October 2026 — curfew-free, 24/7 operations
- Campbelltown is approximately 26 minutes by car from the airport precinct at Badgerys Creek
- The M12 Motorway opened toll-free on 14 March 2026, giving direct, intersection-free access to the airport
- New permanent bus routes from Campbelltown to the airport start 5 July 2026, running every 30 minutes
- Up to 200,000 jobs are projected across the Western Parkland City and Aerotropolis precinct over the coming decades
- Campbelltown offers median house prices around $971,000 — a fraction of inner-Sydney costs
- Nearby suburbs like Oran Park, Leppington, and Gregory Hills share the same access advantages
Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport opens for passenger flights on 26 October 2026 — and it’s already doing something Sydney hasn’t had in decades: a major international airport with no overnight curfew.
The airport is planned to have 24-hour and curfew-free operations, supplementing Sydney Airport, which has reached capacity due to a legislated curfew and flight caps.
This is the first new greenfield international airport in Australia since Melbourne Airport opened in 1970.
What does that mean in practice? Singapore Airlines’ Flight SQ202 departs WSI at 23:55 — a departure time that would be prohibited at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, which operates under an 11 pm – 6 am curfew.

Airlines already confirmed at opening include Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Jetstar, and Air New Zealand — with more expected to follow as the airport grows.
Stage 1, opening in 2026, is expected to handle a capacity of up to 10 million annual passengers. That’s a full-scale international gateway, not a regional airstrip.
For Campbelltown families, the key fact is simple: you’re about 26 minutes from the front door.Campbelltown offers the space families want with direct access to one of Australia’s biggest infrastructure projects. The road that makes Campbelltown’s airport access so compelling is already open.
The M12 Motorway began construction in August 2022 and opened on 14 March 2026, months prior to the Western Sydney Airport opening in late 2026.
The $2.1 billion toll-free motorway has four lanes, with a speed limit of 100km/h, and was funded by a joint investment of $1.63 billion from the federal government and $408 million from the NSW government.

The 16-kilometre section of the M12 connects Elizabeth Drive in the east to The Northern Road in the west, delivering an intersection-free, 100km/h run straight to the airport precinct.
From Campbelltown, the recommended route is the M7 south, then west on the M12 directly to the airport. It takes approximately 26 minutes to drive from Campbelltown to Badgerys Creek.
For context, drive times from Sydney CBD run approximately 45-55 minutes, and 25-35 minutes from Penrith or Liverpool. Campbelltown sits right in that sweet spot.
The final stage of the project, the M7/M12 interchange at Cecil Hills, is on track to open in the middle of 2026, which will make the connection even smoother for Campbelltown drivers heading north on the M7.The M12 is open, the airport launches in October 2026, and more families are discovering Campbelltown every month.
- Cost : $2.1 billion (jointly funded, federal + NSW)
- Length : 16 kilometres
- Speed limit : 100km/h
- Tolls : None — permanently toll-free
- Opened : 14 March 2026
- Drive time from Campbelltown : ~26 minutes
Five new permanent bus routes connecting key Western Sydney communities to Western Sydney International Airport will begin running from 5 July 2026, three months ahead of passenger flights launching at the airport.
The NSW Government’s comprehensive bus plan will provide new services every 30 minutes linking the airport to Penrith, Leppington, Liverpool, Campbelltown and Mount Druitt. These new services will begin prior to the airport opening and run every 30 minutes from 5 am to 10 pm, seven days a week.
These bus services between the airport and Penrith, Oran Park, Campbelltown, Liverpool, Mount Druitt and Leppington will be a permanent upgrade for public transport — they’re not going away when the Metro opens.
Two new bus routes will serve Campbelltown, both also serving Oran Park. One route will go via the centre of Narellan, direct to the Airport Precinct, and one will bypass Narellan to Leppington.
And separately, a free interim shuttle bus will run between the airport and St Marys Station from opening day, every 30 minutes from 4:30 am to midnight Sunday through Thursday, and until 1:00 am on Friday and Saturday nights. The airport isn’t just a travel convenience. It’s a jobs engine.
The Aerotropolis will contribute towards 200,000 new jobs in the Western Parkland City and become a high-skill jobs hub across aerospace and defence, manufacturing, healthcare, freight and logistics, agribusiness, education, and research industries.
More than $26 billion in private development applications and an estimated 120,000 to 200,000 future jobs are underpinning its evolution into a large-scale industrial ecosystem.
The airport itself is also a direct employer. The airport development is expected to create 35,000 jobs by 2035, increasing to 60,000 jobs over time.
At 11,200 hectares, the Western Sydney Aerotropolis represents the largest undeveloped area of employment land in the Greater Sydney basin, backed by a $28 billion government investment in road and rail connections.Whether you’re moving for career opportunities, affordability, or family life, we make the transition simple. But the suburb has been a solid family choice for years.
Current pricing shows a median house value of $971,417 and a median unit price of $575,427, positioning Campbelltown as an attractive option in Sydney’s South West.
That’s a significant saving compared to inner-Sydney medians above $2 million. You get a full family home on a proper block, not a townhouse squeezed onto a 200sqm lot.
Residents enjoy a friendly and relaxed suburban feel, weekend markets, and easy access to outdoor recreation areas. A standout family attraction is the newly developed Billabong Parklands, featuring lagoon-style swimming, shaded picnic zones, and outdoor play spaces. Combined with community centres, sporting facilities and local dining, Campbelltown offers a lifestyle that supports everyday convenience.
Anchored by the South West Rail Link extension and a series of urban renewal initiatives, Campbelltown continues to attract owner-occupiers and investors seeking genuine Sydney affordability. Its price-to-income ratio remains among the most accessible in Greater Sydney. From packing and transport to complete home relocations, our experienced team handles every detail.

Oran Park has grown rapidly over the past decade into a master-planned community with modern schools, parks, and retail. It’s directly on one of the new airport bus routes starting July 2026, and sits even closer to the M12 access point. Families moving to Oran Park from across Sydney can also explore our removalist Macarthur service covering the broader region.
Leppington is another fast-growing suburb with direct bus connections to the airport confirmed from 5 July 2026. It’s also on the existing T2 train line, giving residents a double transport advantage.
Gregory Hills sits just south of Campbelltown and offers newer housing stock in a well-planned estate environment. Families moving to Gregory Hills get the same airport proximity with the added benefit of newer builds and modern infrastructure. If you need a removalist Gregory Hills, the team at 2 Brothers Removals knows the area well.
All three suburbs share the same core advantage: they’re within the Macarthur region’s natural catchment for the Western Sydney Airport precinct, and they’re priced well below comparable suburbs closer to the CBD.Infrastructure of this scale doesn’t leave property values unchanged.
The M12 opening, the airport launch, and the Aerotropolis job creation are all converging in 2026. Campbelltown and the surrounding Macarthur region are sitting directly in the path of that growth corridor.
Historically, major transport infrastructure — motorways, metro lines, airports — drives property price growth in the suburbs that gain the most direct access. Campbelltown’s combination of current affordability and incoming connectivity makes it one of the more compelling positions in Greater Sydney right now.
That said, property decisions are personal. Do your own research, speak to a local buyer’s agent, and factor in your family’s specific needs.
- Book your removalist early. Campbelltown is a popular destination and weekends fill up fast, especially in spring and early summer.
- Visit on a weekday. School drop-off and local traffic patterns are worth seeing before you commit to a street.
- Check school catchments before you sign. Public school zones in the Macarthur area are clearly defined — confirm your address falls in your preferred zone.
- Factor in the M7 toll. The M12 is toll-free, but if your daily commute uses the M7, budget for that cost.
- Explore the whole corridor. Campbelltown, Gregory Hills, Oran Park, and Leppington each have a different feel. Drive around before deciding.
